4 Events Coming Up Soon in Pine City

The end of the year is always filled with activity whether you celebrate the holidays or not. In and around Pine City, there are many activities and events you can take part in to celebrate or just to enjoy time with family and friends. Here are some things coming up soon near Pine City that are worth checking out.

  1. Hinckley Chamber’s Community Dinner

On Dec. 6, the Santa Day Community Dinner will take place at Tobies Big Kettle Room. Come and take part in this fun event which will also honor DJ and Beck Grote, the 2018 Citizens of the Year. The event kicks off at 5:30 p.m. with a social hour and dinner starts at 6 p.m. Tickets are just $30 per person at the door, and if you buy them early you can get a discount.

  1. Chris Hawkey at the Grand Casino Hinckley

Spend your New Year’s Eve in Hinckley listening to some great country music. The Grand Casino Hinkley will host Chris Hawkey, a country music artist and radio personality for a free show on Dec. 31, starting at 10 p.m. The music will go until 1 a.m. and will feature his “Decades of Rock” show.

  1. “Elf The Musical”

Get into the holiday spirit at a performance of “Elf The Musical” at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts. The show runs from Dec. 5 through Dec. 30 and is a fun event for the whole family. This funny show is about Buddy the orphan elf. Fans of the movie will love this live performance. It features music from Tony Award nominees Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin, and according to reviews, it is “endearingly goofy.”

  1. St. Paul Winter Carnival

The St. Paul Winter Carnival is a long-standing tradition in the Twin City area. The event gets started on Jan. 24 and runs through Feb. 3 with citywide events for everyone. Most of the activities are free and open to the public including things such as Casino Night, a puzzle contest, and the three different parades that go on throughout the carnival. Head to Vulcan Snow Park for the giant snow slide, or visit the Ice Palaces at Rice Park. St. Paul builds a different palace each year using thousands of blocks of ice. The carnival also features a winter road race and a treasure hunt.

Whether you want to stay in Pine City or take a drive to a nearby city or town, there are many upcoming events for the holidays and in the months after.
