A Car Girl at Heart: Meet Noree, Employee of the Month for December 2019

As we wrap up a decade (can you believe it?!), we’re excited to announce our very last Employee of the Month for 2019.

Noree Wicklander works in the details department here in Pine City, and was chosen as Employee of the Month because of her willingness to step up when we needed it.

“The previous lot manager left the dealership, and we were short staffed,” says Moneer Nyazi, General Manager. “Noree stepped up to help out with hiring and catching up with everything on the ground. She has taken on the role to make sure things are continuing to get done.”

We’re proud to honor Noree’s hard work as a dedicated member of the Eide CDJR team!

Meet Noree

A car girl at heart, Noree joined the Eide CDJR team in August 2018 after spending much of her life in the garage with her dad.

“My dad is a car guy, and he didn’t have any boys. I was always helping him and putzing with stuff, so I’ve always been really comfortable with automobiles,” Noree says. “I like cars and like to go mudding. My boyfriend races, so I spend a lot of my time with vehicles.”

Noree says that the vehicle detailing job “fell into her lap,” when a friend who already worked at Eide CDJR asked her to apply.

“Now, I work in detail and I co-manage the department with another employee,” she says. “My job has a variety of tasks — everything from cleaning cars, doing basic detail, checking in inventory, buffing, body shop runs, and even clearing snow off the lot.”

One might think that it’s tough to be a woman working in a male-dominated industry such as the detailing department of an automotive dealership, but Noree says that it’s a non-issue at Eide CDJR.

“At first I was worried about being intimidated [as the only woman], but everyone treats me the same. It’s nice.”

The respect Noree receives from the guys isn’t the only thing she appreciates about working at the dealership. She says that family-like team keeps her looking forward to work each day.

“There are days when I want to get to work, because it’s just nice being here. I don’t have to think about the stresses of life when I’m here,” she says. “There’s good communication and everyone helps everyone else. We help technicians; sales staff will help us clean a car if we’re busy. It’s quite the family.”

Outside the Dealership

When Noree isn’t at the dealership, you can find her gardening in the summer and working out at the gym. Unknown to many of her co-workers, she also finds solace in drawing, painting, and playing darts.

But of course, she spends a lot of her free time enjoying cars.

“I like to go mudding on the trails,” she says. “In fact, there’s a really nice orange Jeep Wrangler Rubicon on the lot right now that I’d like to take on the trail. I’m in love with it. I also like to go to races. Fast cars are so fun!”

Advice from Noree

Not just anyone is worthy of the Employee of the Month title, so Noree offers some advice to others.

“The biggest thing is to get your job done, but then lend a hand if there’s something else to be done — whether it’s your job or not,” she says. “I have no problem going out of my way to help someone and get things done. Whether it’s helping a customer or clearing snow, I’m always ready to go the extra step.”
