All Vibes get a MacPherson strut front suspension; AWD and GT models have an independent multi-link rear suspension for enhanced handling, while the base model has a torsion-beam setup that is tuned for a more comfortable ride. A new electric power steering system helps improve fuel economy while providing variable effort and improved response.
Electronic stability control is now standard on all Vibe models, as are four-wheel disc brakes with anti-lock. Side thorax air bags for front occupants are standard, along with head-curtain side air bags covering front rear occupants, plus active head restraints to help reduce whiplash injuries in the event of a rear-end crash.
The Vibe's interior is especially roomy, with a back seat that is split 60/40 and can fold flat to yield nearly 50 cubic feet of cargo space. The cargo floor now has rubberized strips to prevent items from moving, and the cargo area is supplemented with storage cubbies and compartments throughout the vehicle, including a dual-tier center console. Models with the 2.4L engine get a fold-flat front passenger seat and a rear cargo storage organizer with tie-down hooks.
GT models are differentiated by a more aggressive front fascia, including larger fog lamps, a roof spoiler, and bright exhaust tip, while AWD models get a roof rack. Base and AWD models get a four-speaker AM/FM sound system with CD and XM satellite radio compatibility and an auxiliary input; a Monsoon 320-watt system, with MP3 compatibility, seven speakers, and steering-wheel audio controls, is optional on those models or standard on the GT. Keyless entry, a sunroof, and cruise control are among the significant options across the line.
